seeks to accelerate student learning by <em><strong>tailoring the instructional environment<\/strong><\/em>\u2014what, when, how and where students learn \u2014<em><strong>to address the individual needs, skills and interests<\/strong> <\/em>of each student.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/edglossary.org\/personalized-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Glossary of Educational Reform<\/a> rephrases that definition and contrasts it with &#8220;one-size-fits-all approaches.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The\u00a0U.S. Department Education\u2019s 2016 National Educational Technology Plan (NETP) set<a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/personalizing-the-learning-experience-insights\/what-is-personalized-learning-bc874799b6f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> its own definition<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">&#8220;Personalized learning refers to instruction in which <em><strong>the pace of learning and the instructional approach are optimized for the needs of each learner<\/strong><\/em>. Learning objectives, instructional approaches, and instructional content (and its sequencing) may all vary based on learner needs.
